John Rimmer

John was born in the mountains of West Virginia and raised in Virginia Beach, and his life has been a chaotic mixture of the two. Thus it is a fitting providence that he’d come to settle between the two in Richmond. His professional career has been a similarly odd pairing, best summed up in the blue collar scholar archetype. A true master of nothing, he’s made a jack of everything from carpentry, security, facilities maintenance, auto mechanics, mixed martial arts, overland travel, and ministry. The only consistent thread in all of this has been his writing, which is also ironically the only thing he has never earned any money doing. So he currently dresses up as a swiss army spork, battling Leviathan to make ends meet.

John moved to Richmond, Virginia in 2007 to help with the planting of Aletheia Church, which merged together with Remnant Church in 2012. He has served as everything from a teaching elder to a toilet scrubber, descending in that order over the years. He currently serves as something of a Quasimodo, hiding among the belfries of the church, leading a community group, and puffing on a pipe from a smoky corner musing over dark sayings.

John is married with six children, drowning in unfinished projects of all sorts, and aspiring to be a Dunedain Ranger when he grows up.
